Use of humour as the girl pretends to choke, which calms the audience down and make them feel relieved but then the phone rings at 10 o’clock at night. This creates tension and makes the audience suspicious.
The girl tells the other girl about the tape that kills you when you watch it. Immediately the audience is drawn into this as they want to know what the tape is and its giving us an insight on what the film is going to be about.
Low key lighting to show the darkness of the stair way and also to create the intimidating, terrifying situation she is in.
