Sound effects are another aspect in thrillers to create tension and suspense. It can control the audience’s emotions and mood by making them feel frightened or tensed. Music is used to build up a climax when a scary scene is coming, however a change of music can be a change of atmosphere.
As my character is attending a therapy meeting due to his mental state, I want to use a heartbeat sound effect at the beginning to help build up tension from the start. The sound effects of a heartbeat can also resonating the young adult’s emotions and state of mind.

Diegetic sounds and non-diegetic sounds are used to help the story become even scarier than is seems. Without music, stings and sounds in thrillers, the film wouldn’t be as scary.
