Lighting

I've noticed that lighting is essential in thrillers as it enhances the mood and atmosphere of the narrative; it is also used to convey the time of day, establishing setting and context. Thrillers usually use dim lighting to portray a certain character usually the antagonist as it creates suspense.

In my preliminary task, I am looking at using a range of lighting such as:

Low key lighting to create that sense of mystery and suspense

Soft lighting for the therapist to create this very comfortable atmosphere in the consultation room of the therapist.

Background lighting - as it separates subject from background, making the character the main focus.

Stage lighting as I can change the gel colours to fit the mood of my characters.
