Framing and composition was something I struggled with at the start. I didn’t pay attention enough to what to include and exclude in the shots until I looked at these errors during post-production.
This clip from my main task from the staircase works well and I was more confident to handle the camera. I was more confident to try new things, which initially was not the case. As I practised, I started gaining a better understanding that filming required a combination of skills.
I definitely tried my best to work closely on framing during filming and I even ventured to use tracking more comfortably using the point of view shot.
In this clip at the start of the main task, I decided to add rain effect and this added meaning to the narrative of the opening sequence. In fact, I learnt a lot more about conventions and understood their relevance in the film.
When it came to editing, I was more confident to use a lot effects and options which at first I would not have used. This was because I gained a better understanding of film language.
