In today’s society, teenagers are often seen as rebellious, confrontational and irresponsible and with my media product I wanted to go against the stereotypical representation of teenagers therefore my character has a responsible role of a babysitter.

In my video, my characters belong to two different social groups. The young boy aged 9 represents young people as naive and innocent. This is a typical choice in thriller as young people are vulnerable and need protection. The audience can tell that he is from a younger age group due to his costume, the fact they is in school uniform suggests he is a child.

The young boy reactions are exaggerated as young children get frightened easily therefore it is shown in the narrative. His dialogue indicates his social group and age as he is always questioning what is going, children tend to question a lot as they are curious.

However, it is very unusual that he is watching TV as young children are usually out playing with their friends and playing games.

I followed the stereotypical representation of young adults to be stronger and fearless in comparison to the young boy being scared, this is shown when he opens the door and the child is lying on the bed.

Their social groups was captured by 2 examples of camera angles and the audience can see for themselves which social group they belong to – close up, long shot.

However, the stereotypical representation of young boys being frightened and childlike was reverses when the young boy sticks his head out to show he is brave – as you would expect to be scared but he isn’t - he is rather curious.

He is wearing casual clothing rather than the stereotypical clothing for young adults; he is presented in a positive way. The way my character sits indicates his attitude and age, he is leaning on the bed and the child is lying down, this indicates he is older and has more authority. The young adult aged 18 would attract a lot of 16+ audiences. He is playing the role of the baby sitter in the narrative which gives the role of being responsible for the younger boy.
