In any type of genre, lighting is an important element as it portrays a character in a certain way and the audience can assume what the characters are going to be like in the film.

Lighting and Props

In my production, I want to attempt to depend on natural lighting however keep the lighting in the house on so that I get as much light as possible. Because my film is located in a bedroom, the lighting is going to be complicated due to lack of lighting equipment.

For example, harsh, low key lighting on a character would present them as evil or mysterious and the audience would think that they will become an important character during the film.

As I am using a bedroom and there are going to be many props that make up the bedroom thus I only want to use two main props in the scene which are a TV and PlayStation to show the teen and younger child to emphasise the stereotype of what boys like.

I feel as if too many props used in the scene would drag away the importance of my narrative – the mysterious subject. Therefore, I want to minimise the use props and focus of camera shots and lighting.

Props

In 'I Am Legend', the characters are watching Shrek on TV, this makes us forget the whole isolation of the world.
