Top Lighting
A light that comes from above the object
Creates a desirable look towards the object/character.

Cameo Lighting 
Spotlight that focuses on the main character Creates an angelic shot.

Under Lighting 
Lighting coming from under the object to create a distorting effect on that particular object/character.

High-key lighting is a style of lighting that is used to lessen the lighting ratio present in the scene.​

Low-key lighting is a style of lighting  to create a chiaroscuro effect.

Soft Light 
Creates shadows and makes the subject appear more striking
The closer the light source, the softer it becomes. The larger the source, the softer it becomes.

Background light
Use to brighten the background areas, typically to show the division between background and the subject.

Lighting is a very significant feature for shaping meaning in films as they are used to suit the mod and atmosphere of each scene in a film.
