Another inspirational shot came from a scene in The Ring where two school girls are watching television. The choice of costume in this scene clearly suggests they are school girls due to their uniforms. The comfort of the bedroom watching television takes you to an ordinary act which can deteriorate to become hell in a thriller as per the convention. This also influenced me to use the bedroom as the focus of my narrative.
I challenge the stereotype of an older boy being stronger by making the younger one more confident. Near the end of the narrative, when the two boys split to go in different directions because of someone/something in the house, the young boy is brave enough to go separate ways despite the lurking danger. I noticed from the range of case studies I carried out, audio effect can really shape the viewers’ mind.

Unlike The Ring, my story revokes around two boys of completely different age groups and wearing casual clothes and lying down indicated comfort – but the suspense is created through the choice of camera angles and sound effects added to create a sinister atmosphere.
The non diegetic sound of knocking on the bedroom door while they are alone in the house, immediately created anxiety as seen in the way the young character jumps out of the bed.
