Panning
A shot taken moving on a horizontal plane.
Creates tension
Suggest fast movement.

Point of view
Builds suspense and realism as it puts you in the characters position.

Hand-Held
Making you feel as if you are the one experiencing it.
Makes it more personal,
Creates a rough effect and makes the audience feel dragged into the narrative and it gives the impression of reality TV.

180 degree rule
Two characters should always have the same left/right relationship to each other as the 180 degree rule would pan from one person to the other.

Camera angles/movements

When the camera angle looks down on the character making them appear small, weak and vulnerable  used when showing the victim. This makes the audience feel dominant. 


 


This is the opposite of a high angle and makes a character look more powerful, important and is used when showing the villain. This makes the audience feel vulnerable towards the character.

An extreme long shot surrounds a large amount of landscape. It its often used at the beginning of a film to help establish the location.

A camera shot is the quantity of space that is seen in one shot or frame. Camera shots are used to establish different aspects of a film's setting, characters and themes.
